LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT COORDINATOR 2006 PW Changes in a Nutshell Presbyterian Women in the Presbytery (PWP) are being given the opportunity to evaluate their Coordinating Teams over the next three years and to adopt one of two models that are presented below. Each PWP is asked to remember the PW purpose when re-forming their Coordinating Team (CT). This is a time of change but one filled with magnificent possibilities. In both models, all leaders are to be trained on a rotating basis during a 3-year period. Communication is key! Encourage e-mail, listservs and direct mail. The core coordinating team may be expanded or reduced as needed
In Model 1, the CT leaders set up direct communication links with congregations, i.e., Moderator to Moderator, treasurer to treasurer; Mission to Mission, etc. Specialists are appointed or elected to fill specific needs. They can be given a full term of office or appointed for a one-time project. Examples of specialists: Technology – sets up newsletter and sends by email. Visits church to educate on electronic communication. Outreach – encourage churches with no PW group to form one New Church Development – visits church to promote forming PW groups in new churches
Model 2 retains the current structure that has been in place but renames the PW Enabler positions. PW Enabler becomes Cluster Leader and PW Enabler Coordinator becomes PW Cluster Coordinator. Communication is directed from the CT leaders through the cluster leaders to the congregations. E-mail networks are encouraged. Changes at the Churchwide and Synod levels will take effect also. Whereas in the past PW Enablers were specifically trained periodically, now ALL leaders will receive training. Watch for information on how this will be implemented at the synod and presbytery levels over the next few years. |
