Hope-in-a-Box Gathering Mission Project

Are you familiar with the Church World Service Gifts of the Heart kits? If not, check out Mosiac Magazine or www.pcusa.org/pda/help/hopeinabox.htm.  These mission projects are simple and very rewarding for groups of any size!

The Gathering Committee is asking that each presbytery bring completed Hope-In-A-Box kits to the gathering. We will ship them to CWS after the gathering.

The Hope-In-A-Box project is designed to help children who have been impacted by disaster. The contents of this kit were designed by a PC(USA) mission coworker. The final kit selection has been reviewed by an occupational therapist. This is not a toy kit; it is a gift that will make a true difference in addressing immediate hygiene and emotional needs of traumatized children.

PLEASE INCLUDE $3.00 FOR EACH KIT FOR SHIPPING TO FINAL DESTINATION!

All items must fit into and be sent in a plastic shoe box with lid:

bulletsmall stuffed bear
bulletsmall soft ball
bulletharmonica, or small instrument
bullet6’x9’ non-spiral bound paper or construction paper
bulletSlinky® (metal or plastic) yo-yo
bullet7-foot child’s jump rope
bulletcomb
bullettoothbrush
bullettube of toothpaste (4-7 ounces)
bulletbox of 24 crayons
bulletlarge eraser
bullet6 – new pencils with erasers
bulletpencil sharpener
bullet30-centimeter ruler (12”)
bulletpair blunt child’s scissors

Looking for a way to include young women into PW? This is a great mission project for a young mother’s group. Why not tell them about it and invite them to participate?

Hope-in-a-Box is the same project as the Church World Service Heart-to-Heart Kid Kits.
