PWSOC Spiritual Retreat 2004

For those who missed the retreat I give the following! - Sally Abbotts, Lake Huron

Five Pilgrims from First Presbyterian Church
of Beaverton, with baggage in hand,
arrived at the center full of
Excitement,
Curiosity,
and Faith.
The trees in the woods at the center were very tall.
Their branches arched overhead
like the ceiling of a large cathedral.
One hundred and seven soon
were signed in and the
Pilgrims began
their journey.
A journey to find out more about
themselves and those who were
traveling this journey with
them. To learn to make
music, sing new songs,
share life experiences,
and dig deeper into
a study of a
Bible passage.
Some took their free time to
have a massage, some to walk
the Prayer Trail in the camp next door.
Some sat by the lake and listened to water
softly lap against the sandy beach while
others sat and talked with pilgrims
they met at other retreats and
Gatherings.
Friendships were formed, memories
were born. Memories that will last and
also memories that will come back when the
Spirit that formed them has need to revive them.
Worship and communion was like a warm fuzzy,
while three words echoed through
the weekend like the shout from
Isaiah!
Judgment
Comfort
and Hope!
Learning what it means to be the people of God,
the five pilgrims from Beaverton
have returned home.
Now watch them grow.

Peace be with you
Sally
